I’d like to tell you about a discussion my uncle and I had. He embraces the nation’s increased petrol costs. On this point, however, I differed with him.

My uncle is an ardent supporter of the prime minister. Recently, energy producers lifted the prices of gasoline and diesel once again. It arose as a result of the new government’s legislative reforms, which grant oil producers carte blanche. People are struggling as a result.

My uncle and I disagreed as he was protecting the state in this sensitive matter. He noted that the rate is set by the oil corporations, not the government. I was debating who gave these businesses that much leeway. Furthermore, I inquired of him as to why the government imposed so many fuel taxes. I even asked him why he was voting against it when his favourite democratic party was in opposition.

Every rational citizen would object to such draconian actions, which would have an effect on his or her everyday spending. I say I drive 50 kilometres every day. It would now cost me more. Inflation has hit its height as a result of the rise in diesel prices. The shipping firms have also increased their fares. As a consequence, retailers are charging much higher costs for imported goods. As a result, the lower and middle classes are struggling.

IELTS Speaking: Describe a Decision made by Others That You Disagreed With Sample 2

I’ve been fortunate to have a very supportive and compassionate family. However, there have been a few times when I had to argue with some of their decisions over the years. Currently, I’d like to discuss one such decision taken by my family in which I disagreed.

During my early undergraduate days, I was obsessed with owning a motorcycle, owing to the fact that I grew up sitting on an old motorcycle with my elderly but very “involved” grandfather. Currently, my grandfather and I had such a close friendship that if he wanted to go anywhere on his motorcycle, I was his “normal” companion. But, sadly, my grandfather passed away when I was still in high school, leaving no one to care about his old motorcycle.

By the way, I adored my grandfather’s old motorcycle. As a result, if my parents wanted to “get rid of” or sell the old motorcycle, I was vehemently opposed to the notion. However, after purchasing my own motorcycle while still a college student, the problem of “getting rid” of the old motorcycle resurfaced as finding a good place to “stall” my newly-purchased motorcycle became challenging.

In reality, we were living in a nice flat at the time, and the only appropriate and “safe” location for my motorcycle was under “the stairs” of our small flat. However, the little space was still filled by my grandfather’s motorcycle. So, regardless of how much I struggled with the move, my father wanted to sell the old motorcycle to make room for the new one, and although I don’t blame my family for it. And besides, they didn’t have much of an option at the moment.

Anyway, I was disappointed with the decision, mainly because that old motorcycle had a very fascinating past and emotional principles for me. I also opposed it because it was a really powerful and ancient “computer,” and I decided to “safeguard” it as an ancient “antique” so that I could share its storey with my own family and children in the future.

IELTS Speaking: Describe a Decision made by Others That You Disagreed With Sample 3

Ok, I vividly recall this incident in my childhood. I feel so proud of myself as I recall this day. My disagreement was not only solid but also important. There was a new student in our classroom, so a group of classmates wanted to bully him. I absolutely disagreed with them and bravely shared my point of view. During their lunch break, they all gathered together and decided to try something out of the ordinary. Someone proposed hiding the new one’s tiffin the next day and calling him names.

Someone else quickly agreed with the concept. I’m sure they were both bored and decided to pull a joke on each other. The definition did not appeal to me in the least. I advised them to stop dreaming like this. They ignored my polite suggestion and proceeded with the episode’s planning. I set my foot down and told them that I disagreed with them. I advised them unequivocally that if they did anything, I will file a formal report with the relevant authorities.

My classmates’ verdict was wrong and insulting, but I disagreed with them. I do not agree that we’d have fun at the expense of other people’s feelings. I was considerate of the newcomer’s position. Everyone eventually understood my point of view.

I’m happy I was able to save everyone from injury.
