IELTS has four modules including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Test takers often find the IELTS speaking module hardest owing to the face-to-face interview they need to have with the examiner and most importantly the cue card topic one.

Candidates are given random topics on which they have to speak for a whole minute and also have to answer one or two follow-up questions. The topic can be anything from general topics to subject-related.

But anything can be conquered by practice. Here is a solved answer to an example topic describing a time you got up early in the morning for you to practice. Read test sample answers and then try to solve the oven topic by yourself using our recommendations.

Describe A Time You Got Up Early Cue Card Topic Sample Answer One

Introduction

Morning is the best time of the day. Everything is calm, peaceful and the cold breeze makes everything look so fresh. The silence of the morning is disturbed by the sweet chirping of the birds. Today I have got a chance to speak about a time when I woke up early in the morning. I would like to share an experience from the previous month.

H4- When did it Happen?

Last month I had a nightmare and accidentally woke up in the early morning. I checked the time and was surprised as it was only 5’0 clock.

Suddenly in the peace and calmness of the environment, I heard some sweet chirping. I looked out of the window and found two small birds chirping peacefully. I was mesmerized by the beauty and cold breeze flowing. After seeing such beauty I couldn’t resist putting on my tracksuit and jogging shoes.

Who were You With?

Soon I was out of my home heading towards the nearby park with my dog, Cloud. The first thing I saw in the park was the dew drops on the leaves and grasses. Many early risers were walking, exercising, and jogging in the park.

Explain How You Felt

I started jogging and was elated to see my Cloud so active. After two rounds of the park, I started doing some stretching. The environment was so wonderful and motivating that I found a new dimension of myself. I never was a fitness freak but today I couldn’t stop myself.

I started to realize the importance of waking up early in the morning. Someone wise has rightly said that “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.” From that day till now there hasn’t been a day when I didn’t wake up and go out for jogging and exercise.

Describe a Time You Got Up Early Sample Answer Two

I have always been an early riser. Now that I have this opportunity to narrate an experience, thousands of memories are dancing in my mind but today I would like to speak about the most memorable morning.

When did it Happen?

On the last vacation, we decided to visit our village. My village is a simple rural place that is untouched by the modernization of the city. Though there is still electricity, you can still find people sitting out at night and talking.

Who were You With?

In the early morning, I woke up, took a bath, put my clothes on, and went out for a tour. I was accompanied by my sister and cousin.

Explain How You Felt

The first thing we saw in the village was that many people were awake and heading towards their field with their tools. I was surprised and my cousin informed me that they were heading to harvest the wheat crops. They will work till the sun is up and will return by noon.

Then we saw women continuously chatting and giggling while holding buckets and pots and heading towards the hand pump. I was mesmerized by the simplicity of their life. While our morning in the city is usually busy they seem to enjoy each little moment.

Soon we reached the famous temple of my village. It is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva, one of the three Gods of the Hindu religion. We found ourselves lost in the divinity of the place and chantings. Soon we worshipped and went out to see the lake near the temple.

It was probably the longest morning of my life. I found everything so peaceful and mesmerizing that the memory made a special place in my heart. I still am amazed by the simple yet interesting life of villagers where there is unity, love, and no pollution. Mahatma Gandhi has rightly said that “ The heart of India lies in the village.”

Describe a Time You Got Up Early Sample Answer Three

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to talk. Today I would like to narrate an incident from my life that is pretty simple yet meaningful.

When did It Happen?

One day my mother saw a documentary narrating the health benefits of the morning walk and the very next day my sister and I were woken up early and sent out for some walk and fresh air.

Who were You With?

At first, we were irritated by waking up so early on a Sunday morning. But who knew we were going to experience one of the most beautiful experiences of our life.

We set out of the house and decided to go to the nearest park and rest on the bench and come back for more sleep. But as soon as we reached the park the beauty of nature and cool breeze took away all drowsiness and filled us with bliss. The beauty of the rising sun bathed everything with the golden light.

Explain How You Felt

The garden was filled with freshness, the sweet fragrance of the flowers in the breeze, and sweet songs by different birds. At first, we thought we were surely not on the earth but in some heaven.

Our plan to rest on the bench was soon abandoned and we found ourselves moving throughout the garden watching the colourful flowers, green grass, and dewdrops on the leaves. We circled the garden at least 2 times yet we were not at all fatigued, we were quite active and feeling energetic.

No sooner did I realize that the documentary was so right about the benefits of the morning walk. The air was so clean and fresh that my lungs were too happy. We found different old groups laughing and exercising together. We joined them to feel the ecstasy they were feeling.

We also played badminton with the kids around there. After that, we ended our amazing morning walk with a glass of fresh juice and a bowl of sprouted beans. We knew that this was going to be the definite routine of our day.

Describe a Time You Got Up Early Sample Answer Four

Today I would like to narrate my experience that took place on the 2 January.

When did it Happen?

On the first of January, we made a New Year’s resolution to practice Yoga early in the morning. Yoga is a collective name for different physical, mental, and spiritual practices that originated in India. Today even the world realizes the importance of yoga and now it is practised in several parts of the world. Yoga is known to combine the body with the soul.

Who were You With?

My sister and I enrolled ourselves in the Yoga classes in the nearby Yoga camp set by a famous Yogi. The morning was already calm and peaceful and the environment was itself ideal for Yoga.

Explain How You Felt

At first, we were told to take an oath to attend the classes regularly for the next 30 days. Then we began with a sun salutation. The sun salutation also known as Surya namaskar is a set of 12 yoga poses and its main purpose is to greet the sun and a new beginning of the day. It has numerous benefits for the body, mind, and spiritual health.

Then we were instructed to do some poses of hatha yoga and some other breathing poses. The yogi or our guru was so expert that he was so graceful while doing each pose while we were struggling to do any. But we were enjoying the process and happy to do something for our bodies.

Then the whole process ends with the meditation session. It was the most peaceful activity of the whole camp. Our guru instructed us to concentrate on our breath while meditating and try not to think about anything.

From that day till now I can say that I have mastered some of the poses and shifted towards a healthy lifestyle.

Describe a Time You Got Up Early Sample Answer Five

Today I would like to share my latest experience with the early morning. From childhood, I have heard from my parents that I should wake up early in the morning and study. According to them and also many folks, the best time to study is early morning.

When did It Happen?

They say that the brain is alert at that time and whatever we study at that time we won’t ever forget. So one day, I thought of trying this out for my upcoming IELTS test.

Who were You With?

I set the alarm for 4 a.m. and went to bed early. Surprisingly, I was awakened before the alarm rang. As decided I went straight for a quick walk to shed any kind of drowsiness.

After that, I went straight to my study table and opened the book I bought to help me in the IELTS writing section.

Explain How You Felt

I bought that book a week before but couldn’t concentrate because of the disturbance and thus I haven’t read more than one page. But surprisingly today I didn’t realize that I had completed a whole chapter. Then I started solving questions given on the page.

I couldn’t stop myself from studying. The calm and peaceful environment helped me with it. From that day I have decided to wake up early and study.
