The IELTS General Writing Task 2 is the second part of the writing section. In this test, you are given a point of view, problem or argument and you are supposed to write an essay in response. The essay you write should generally be formal in style, should have a length of around 250 words and should be written under 40 minutes.

You must write an excellent conclusion since it is the last thing the examiner will read. It is still easy to write the conclusion as compared to other paragraphs since you will be concluding the ideas that you already might have mentioned in the introduction and other paragraphs. How to Write IELTS Task 2 Conclusion?

One should keep in mind the following points while writing an ideal conclusion:

  • You should never add new ideas to your conclusion. The conclusion should mainly focus on and support the ideas you have mentioned in the rest of the essay. Always mention new ideas in the main body instead of the conclusion.
  • The conclusion should always state your final opinion about the question and what are your feelings in regards to the issue.
  • Try to vary your language by paraphrasing.
  • No need to go into detail. You have already done that in the main body of the essay. Instead, just try to summarise the main points.
  • Always write a conclusion, if you want to attain a good score in the IELTS exam. Since the conclusion signifies your opinion, writing one is always a good idea irrespective of the time left in your exam.

IELTS Writing Task 2 Topic 1

The threat of Nuclear weapons ensures world peace and it provides cheap and clean energy. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this?

Introduction

Nuclear technology has been around for a lot of years. Whether this technology is used for weapons of mass destruction or as a source of energy, many believe that nuclear energy is more advantageous than disadvantageous. In my opinion, nuclear technology indeed is an efficient energy source. However, nuclear weapons possess such enormous destructive power that any benefits that they offer to humankind are not enough to counter their potentially devastating effects. This essay will address why the many drawbacks of nuclear technology outweigh the benefits and will include relevant examples to support this opinion.

IELTS Writing Task 2 Topic 1 Conclusion

Nuclear technology is an extremely dangerous concept. Even though nuclear weapons have only been used twice, both times on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, evidence from these actions, as well as from the nuclear accidents such as the Chernobyl disaster, is proof of the dangerous effects of nuclear technology. Even in the absence of nuclear accidents, nuclear energy usage inevitably produces radioactive waste, which is damaging to our bodies. Our best defence against these effects is to not use nuclear technology. Instead, we should look for alternative methods to produce sustainable energy and to achieve world peace through spreading a message of tolerance, kindness and non-violence.

IELTS Writing Task 2 Topic 2

There is a trend towards the use of alternative forms of medicine, but these methods might be ineffective and dangerous. Do you agree with this statement?

IELTS Writing Task 2 Topic 2 Introduction

The usage of alternative medicine is not new. It is accepted that it predates conventional medicine and it is still used by many people all over the world. I am unconvinced that it is dangerous and feel that both alternative and conventional medicine can be useful.

IELTS Writing Task 2 Topic 2 Conclusion

To sum up, I strongly believe that conventional medicine and alternative therapies can and should coexist. They have different strengths, and can both be used effectively to target particular medical problems. The best situation would be for alternative therapies to be used to support and complement conventional medicine.
