How to Get PR in the UK after Study?
To apply for a Permanent card for citizenship as a UK PR for Indians when you have lived in the UK for 5 years as a member of the family of an EU, EEA or Swiss national, you can now apply for a permanent residency visa.
To establish your residency status in the UK, you will not need a permanent residence card unless:
Under the Immigration Rules, you want to endorse a visa application from your partner.
If both of the following apply, you’re eligible:
For a continuous 5 year time, you have been living with your EEA family member in the UK.
Your member of the EEA family has been a ‘qualified resident’ for five years or has a permanent right of residence. This will get you UK PR points.
Further UK PR Process
If you’ve lived in the United Kingdom for a continuous duration of 5 years, you can also get permanent residency:
As an extended EEA national family member, you have a valid EEA family permit and residency card in the whole of the EEA.
First as an EEA national’s family member and then with a retained right of residence
If you enter the United Kingdom under EU law after living in an EEA country (‘Surinder Singh’ route) as a family member of a British citizen,
The UK PR process for permanent residency can be obtained before 5 years if either:
Immediately before their death, you were living with your EEA national family member who was working or self-employed in the UK.
Your EEA national family member has been working or self-employed in the UK but has ‘stopped action’ (stopped work or self-employment due to retirement or permanent disability, or because they are now working or self-employed in an EEA state but are still resident and returning to the UK at least once a week)
It is also necessary in most cases to pass your IELTS exam to prove you’re eligible.
