WHAT IS PTE?
The Pearson test of English Academic is a test that evaluates the proficiency of a student in English language skills. It is comparatively a newer entry into the list of existing language proficiency tests such as TOEFL and IELTS but is accurate in how it works.
Prestigious institutions such as the Harvard Business School (US) as well as the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) accept PTE before taking in students.
It is usually computer-based and assesses an individual on parameters such as Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.

The entire test takes about 3 hours and you receive your results in just 48 hours after taking it.
The test costs around $205 and is a standardized test just like the IELTS, TOEFL and OET.

COUNTRIES THAT REQUIRE PTE
PTE is mainly opted for students who wish to move to the US but countries such as UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, New Zealand and France also accept PTE.
It is a faster and fairer assessment that students take and it determines their ability to hold meaningful conversations in English with the native speakers of a particular country. Currently, about 74 countries accept PTE. PTE is more inclined towards American English although European countries also accept it. Impressive colleges and universities such as Yale University, Colorado State University, Columbia University, University of Illinois, University of Pennsylvania, Babson College and many others accept only PTE before admitting potential students from other countries.
SCORE CALCULATION
The scores range between 10 and 90 here. You will receive a score between 10 and 90 for each of the sections – Listening, Writing, Reading and Speaking.
Your overall score will be the average score that you receive in each of these sections. A graph will indicate your weaknesses and strengths so that you can work upon areas that need improvement. This graph comes in handy for all those universities that accept PTE as their standardized language proficiency test. The scores will remain valid for 2 years.
