GMAT: Graduate Management Admission Test

GMAT stands for Graduate Management Admission Test. A computer adaptive test aims to assess the analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal and reading skills of a candidate for admission in management programs such as an MBA.

The Graduate Management Admission Council owns this test. According to it, GMAT assesses essential skills in a candidate that is important for success in real-world business and management. This test is widely accepted by more than 2,300 graduate business schools for 7,000 programs. It is used as a criterion to get admission into a variety of programs including MBA, Masters of Finance, Master of Accountancy, and many more.

Eligibility Criteria

There is no such eligibility criterion for the GMAT exam. However, there is a naturally accepted convention.

 Age Criteria

# The candidate must have attained the age of 18.

# There is no maximum age limit.

# If the candidate is between 13 to 17 years he/she has to take permission from their parents or guardian.

Education Qualification

# GMAC has not announced any such official statement for the education qualification.

# Candidates who wish to apply for an MBA should have completed graduation in any discipline from a recognized university.

GMAT Exam Fees 2021

The application fees of the GMAT fees as prescribed by GMAC are $250. In Indian rupees, it translates into INR 18,300 approx.

Moreover, if candidates want to make any changes in the centre or reschedule the exam they will be charged extra money.

Cancellation Fees

# If you cancel the exam before 1 to 14 days you will be charged around $200 and refunded $250.

# If you cancel the exam before 15 to 60 days, you will be charged around $175 and refunded $75.

# If you cancel the exam before 60 days, you will be charged around $150 and refunded around $100.

However, exams cannot be cancelled or changed before 24 hours.

Rescheduling Fees

Candidates can change their exam centre or date, they will be charged accordingly.

# If candidates reschedule their exam before 1 to 14 days they will be charged around $150.

# If candidates reschedule their exam prior 15 to 60 days they will be charged around $100.

# If the candidates reschedule their exam before 60 days they will be charged around $50.

 Registration Process of GMAT

According to GMAC, one can register for the exam before 6 months to 1 day of their Graduate management admission test date.

Steps to Register for GMAT 2021 (Online)

#1. Visit the official site of GMAT.

#2. Then candidates have to create their accounts.

#3. Add personal details such as name, address, etc.

#7. Finally, pay the registration fees online either through debit or credit card.

GMAT Paper Pattern

The GMAT exam has four sections to evaluate each required skill set of candidates:

#1. Analytical Writing Assessment: This measures the candidate’s ability to analyze and evaluate the information presented.

#2. Integrated Reasoning: This measures a candidate’s ability to analyze data and evaluate presented data in different formats.

#3. Quantitative Reasoning: This section measures the candidate’s ability to analyze data and draw conclusions.

The Analytical Writing section will have to write or answer questions from a g8ven passage.

# Argument Essay: In this section, candidates have to analyze the reasoning and then structure an argument. Candidates will be scored according to how well they give arguments.

# Issue Essay: In this section, candidates have to write an essay on the issue. They will have to keep their opinion whether in support or present their opinion.
