IELTS Preparation Tips for Listening
About Accents
Any of the 3 accents, British, Canadian, or Australian, can be used. They all have their own distinct twang and way of pronouncing various terms. There are also a few words that must be memorised. For example, the popularly used ‘nought’ is not widely used in India. Based on the circumstances, it might signify zero, failure, or nothing.
Recording Pace
In some ways, the listening exam is harsh since you can only hear it all once, and if you’ve skipped the material, there’s really no way to get it back.
Distractions
The info in the recording is not obvious. There are four sections, two of which are discussions between two or more persons. Distractors or facts altering as the tape proceeds will be found in these exchanges.
Multitasking
You must listen, read, and write all at once. Yes, there will be no reprieve until the audio clip is completed. Long durations of focus are required to pass this exam.
Conclusion
We hope that you have got an idea about the test pattern, question types and some other essential details. However, in order to perform well in all of the papers, there must be equal emphasis on academic reading, writing, and IELTS speaking. You can find a lot of listening samples on the official website of IDP and the British Council.
