Most of us have friends who support us in whatever it is that we take up. We make many such friends in our lives but a few of them manage to leave an impact on us that stays throughout. We cherish that one friend more than the others on account of certain reasons.

Today, I will be talking about my favourite childhood friend. When I was in preschool, I had become friends with a wonderful girl named Hana. I still remember how I was sitting in one corner and she had come up to me to interact. She had introduced herself to me and had also insisted that I sit next to her. Hana would carry a sumptuous spread to school everyday and share it with her friends. Both of us became particularly close and often hung out at each other’s house. Throughout our school years, we remained close friends.

We would often go on hikes together. Hana, just like me, was a fitness enthusiast and a basketball player. We would attend the same practice sessions after school and often visit a nearby cafe that served unique shakes. Hana had to leave for the US in order to pursue her further education. That got me a little sad but I needed to handle it in a mature manner.

Throughout my childhood years, she stood by me through thick and thin. Hana was a person who was unconditional in how she loved me. I cherish her a lot as she always managed to brighten my mood. I am a whimsical person who functions erratically most of the time and Hana never sidelined me because of this trait.  Although she moved to another country, we kept the tradition of our weekly calls alive.

We would catch up on whatever was occurring in the others’ life and would give each other suggestions. Hana moved back after her graduation and that really made me happy. I was elated at the prospect of hanging out with her all over again. Although we are both married now and are occupied with the daily hustle of life, we make it a point to see each other as often as possible. Hana is my one true friend who will always be my favourite.
