If you wish to work, live, or study in an English-speaking country, you must possess some good skills in the English language. English is the third most spoken language around the globe. The ability to speak in the native language of the country where you want to work or study has many advantages. It’s also important for getting a job and assimilating into the society and the culture of another nation. IELTS is the most widely known exam taken by IDP or British Council for people who choose to move to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom.

Henry Moore (1898-1986)
Early Life of Henry Moore
Henry Moore was born in Castleford. From 1909 to 1915, he attended Castleford Grammar School, where his early interest in art was inspired by his teacher Alice Gostick. Moore intended to become a sculptor after graduating from high school, but he decided to follow his father’s advice and pursue a career as a schoolteacher. Moore enrolled in the Leeds School of Art after the First World war in 1917 and studied there for two years.
He spent the majority of his first year drawing. Despite his desire to study sculpture, he was not assigned an instructor until his second year. He passed the sculpture exam at the end of the year and was awarded a scholarship to the Royal College of Art in London. He moved to London in September 1921 and started a three-year advanced sculpture course.
Moore’s Interest in Sculpture
Moore visited many of London’s museums, especially the British Museum, which had a large collection of ancient sculptures. He was struck by the influence and beauty of ancient Egyptian and African sculpture during these visits. As his interest in these “primitive” types of art grew, he drifted away from Europe.
After Graduation, Moore spent the first half of 1925 in France. A cast of a Mayan, a sculpture of the rain spirit impressed him when he visited the Trocadero Museum in Paris. Moore’s extraordinary talent was quickly recognized, and he began teaching sculpture at the Royal College of Art in 1926. There was a group of young artists called Unit One. Moore became an associate member of the same group in 1933. The group’s goal was to persuade the English public of the merits of the burgeoning international modern art and architecture movement. He had a show at the Leicester Galleries in London in 1931. Fellow sculptors praised his work, but the press panned it, making Moore a household name.
Moore’s Research Work
In the 1950s, Moore experimented with the subject matter with works like Warrior with Shield and Falling Warrior. These were unusual examples of Moore’s use of the male figure, and they owe much to his 1951 trip to Greece, where he was able to research ancient art. Moore founded the Henry Moore Foundation in his later years to encourage art appreciation and to exhibit his work. Moore was the first modern English sculptor of his times to gain international recognition, and he is now known as one of the most influential sculptors of the twentieth century.
