An academic reading examination is one of the most important tests in IELTS. You cannot take this test lightly as it contributes to gaining the highest bands in IELTS. The paragraphs in the IELTS reading test depend on various subjects, and “Dyslexia” is one of them.
In this article, you will discover the format of the questions, i.e., the line of questioning in IELTS for dyslexia reading answers.
Let’s look at the passage and understand the format of the questions.
Sample Paragraph on Dyslexia
भाग ए
A part of the cerebral cortex is made up of communication centres. These centres are located in the left part of the human brain. Six layers made up of the cells are present in the cortex. A compilation of the nerve cells, aka the Ectopia, pushes up into outer layers from the lower layers present in the cortex. These nerve cells are not usually observed in this area. A tiny fold known as microgyrus is present in the cortex. This leads to a decrease in the usual number of layers, i.e. from six layers to four.
भाग बी
The development of microgyria complicates the neutral connections within the communication centres and additional parts of the human brain. The microgyria is introduced in the embryos of the rat. When these rat embryos turn into adults, their skill of differentiating between the two sounds executed in instantaneous succession is reduced.
This incapability to differentiate between two sounds executed in instantaneous succession is one of the symptoms of dyslexia in human beings.
भाग सी
Dyslexia not only affects the language centres, but also impacts the brain, causing abnormalities in visual pathways. The reduction in cell size in the layers of the lateral geniculate nucleus is one such aberration. The nerve tracts that carry information from the eyes to the visual cortex at the rear of the brain are located here. This is critical because dyslexia is defined as an inability to read.
भाग डी
This failure of the visual and auditory systems occurs in other parts of the brain as well. Uinevere Eden and Thomas Zeffiro of Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., found an example through a brain-scanning method called functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
One of the most common symptoms of dyslexia is the inability to absorb written phonemes.
Phonemes are sound units that make up a language. Dr Eden and Dr Zeffiro were able to engage both the visual and auditory pathways simultaneously by giving dyslexic patients activities like deleting phonemes from the beginning of words while measuring brain activity with their scanner.
