How is the IELTS Listening Test Conducted?

There are four sections in the IELTS listening test. The sections are divided into their departments on the basis of their focus area. Section 1 and 2 focus on the social situation, whereas section 3 and 4 revolve around the academic aspect of the IELTS exam.

You can use capital letters on the answer sheet.

Sometimes this is also a good idea because this makes your writing more eligible. It is to be noted that you will not lose marks if you write in capitals.  You can use capitals or lowercase letters. You may use what you are the most comfortable with. The capitalisation will not affect your scores, it will not cause you to lose marks.

You get 30 seconds to look at the directions and the questions by skimming through questions in the section. In the questions, emphasise keywords to quickly decide the kind of response that is required.

For each question, describe the form of the answer- It may be a name, a number, a town. When the conversation turns towards that subject, predicting the type of response required will help you listen to the correct answer.
